NORFOLK | A SEA OF PINK FLOWERS

Here's just one more outfit from Norfolk - as the weather is so on and off and the moment it's good to carry a cosy jumper, (or a lightweight, waterproof jacket), around just in case it gets chilly or starts to rain! Here I'm wearing a H&M roll neck over a striped dress.... how pretty is this field of pink flowers!?

HEJ! | GIVING THIS ANOTHER TRY...

Hello! It's been a while since I last blogged but the time feels right to give this another shot, so here goes! I guess I should start with a quick update; over the summer i went freelance as a stylist. I've tried in-house a few times but I always seem to end up back here. I really love the freedom, opportunity and unexpected nature that comes with working for myself, it keeps me on my toes, forces me outside of comfort zones and makes me try harder than I've ever tried before. I do love a challenge. So for now this seems like the right thing for me - It's all very exciting and I'll definitely be keeping you updated on all of that side of things here on FYS.

As I'm sure you've already seen on Instagram I also had a hair cut over the Summer, just before visiting Gothenburg for Way Out West Festival, which was amazing by the way. I loved Sweden so much that I returned for my Birthday weekend, this time to Stockholm, which is where all of these photographs were taken! Back to image related stuff for a second though, I've stopped wearing so much makeup all of the time. My average day involves hours spent on my knees or running around like an idiot in (quite often) sweaty studios. What's the point? This also restricts what I wear, which is actually great cos I feel I'm finally getting a grasp on my own personal style... what works for me and what doesn't. Although I love lots of different styles and trends, most of them I just want to work with, not wear myself.

Another recent life development is the new laptop that I'm currently working from. Last weekend, after months of sharing Matt's laptop, (nightmare), I finally bought my own shiny new Macbook Pro. Having this beauty in my hands was the perfect reason to get back into the blogging game, it would have been rude not to. I hope you also like this new layout, I think it's a lot more user friendly for you guys and also a lot more "me"!

OUTFIT | DUNGAREE FUN!

The last pair of dungarees I owned were a hideous lime green. I was seven-years-old, give or take, and my Mum had picked them up for me at a car boot sale... although I don't think I could pull of that sickly green colour anymore, I do rather like this classic denim style, which were found whilst rummaging in Beyond Retro's Cheshire Street store. Have you ever been? It's like a treasure cave, be sure to visit if ever in London! Any way, I think the key to a good pair of dungarees is size... the bigger the better! Oversized 'rees are cute, fun and flattering, just like big high waisted shorts - yup I've most certainly, (finally), joined the dungaree bandwagon.

OUTFIT | A LONG WEEKEND

Don't you just love a long weekend? On Saturday I styled an editorial with my dream team, you can see a few behind the scenes snaps on instagram here, on Sunday I had a lazy day editing and sending work emails then yesterday I styled a menswear editorial for a Canadian magazine! It literally poured with rain for the entire day so, as you can imagine, we were absolutely drenched by 5pm! How did you spend your bank holiday weekend?

ALEXA CHUNG | POP FALL/WINTER 2014

I'm sorry if I offend anyone by saying this, and what I'm about to say may come as a surprise, but in general I'm not an Alexa Chung fan. However, I was just scrolling through my Bloglovin feed when I came across the image shown above. The post title read, "Alexa Chung looks unrecognizable on POP Fall/Winter 2014 Cover". She does indeed look a little different to what we're used to but only because she's more bare-faced than I think I've ever seen her... she looks "different" because she's less made up and less retouched, and I personally admire this natural beauty far more than any generic, airbrushed representation of a person.

I particularly like the cover option below, mainly because blue is my favourite colour and it works really well here with the orange, but also because of its realness. Celebrities and models are retouched far too much these days, which not only creates a false, and completely unattainable may I add, ideal of beauty, but it's also unnecessary when these people are already so beautiful!

Rant over, happy Tuesday xx

FASHION | AUSSIE ROOTS

Is it just me or has there recently been an influx of fab fashion brands coming out of Australia!? First The Fifth came across to Asos alongside the likes of Finders Keepers, and then I was introduced to the effortlessly cool label, JAGGAR. Perhaps I'm just unobservant, but anywho, I seriously want to move to Australia right now!

Clean, tailored and cool with a rock and roll edge, JAGGAR radiates that seemingly unattainable, (for me any way), "off-duty model" kinda look with a luxe twist. Here I'm wearing their leather Stork Embroidered Skirt. At first glance I seriously said out loud, "oh my gosh, that's mental", but then I tried it on... and now I don't want to take it off. Ever! Not only is the fit PERFECT, (I'd been looking for a well fitting leather skirt for at least a year), but it feels great and although it's a tad "out there" I'd say, in comparison to the rest of my wardrobe, I've fallen in love with it! I've also got my eye on this Daze Dress by JAGGAR too - so pretty!

I EAT GLITTER FOR BREAKFAST

Yesterday Matt and I shot some model tests…. as always we tried to cram too much into one day and at times it felt a little hectic, but I do think we got some really good stuff so i'll post some new work on here soon! In the meantime you can follow our adventures on instagram here :)

I was recently sent this super cool t-shirt* from LOVE fashion; I actually took it to glastonbury as I wanted to wear it and shoot it for you guys there, but most days, despite the on off pouring rain, it was boiling hot so I didn't want to wear black. Speaking of Glastonbury, Lookbook kindly featured my experience over on their editorial blog, so feel free to pop over for a look!  Here I've gone for an all black ensemble with PU leather shorts, which I picked up ages ago in the River Island sale, black ankle socks and Dr Martens shoes.

NEW WORK: CONNIE

The other week Matt and I shot Connie from M+P models. Hair and makeup was by Jess Chapman and I sourced a lot of the clothing from a very talented knitwear designer called Mao Tsen Chang. You can see more of my work here - http://www.tonicaroline.co.uk
