WINTER PASTELS | LAVISH ALICE

It's funny, when looking at my work it seems I have a real love of colour, (I like working around colour when styling as it keeps my ideas focussed and also ties images together, keeping everything consistent). Yet in reality there are very few pops of colour in my wardrobe.

When the brand Lavish Alice asked if I'd like to review something from their winter range however, I couldn't help but notice this super cool pair of pale pink, wide leg trousers. I like that although they're pink, the colour is still very soft and neutral, and they're a fabulous fit too! They literally just fall from the waist - I can't wait to use them in a photoshoot! I can also picture myself wearing them out to a club with a cropped tee or tucked in blouse and heels. Here I've styled them in a more casual way though with a slouchy jumper, picked up from a charity shop in Crouch End, and my beloved Dr Martens.

DM are actually running an offer this weekend which saves you £25 when you spend £125 or more online; simply head over to the Dr Martens website and use the discount code DMBLACK14 at the checkout! The code expires at Midnight this Monday... go go go!

LFW | DAY 3 OUTFIT

Yesterday I popped to Somerset House to see some friends and go to a presentation - sadly I didn't actually make it to the presentation though cos I had to rush off to Kings Cross for the Paul Smith show, one not to be missed! I wore my M Missoni dress, which makes me feel "a million dollars", with a Boden roll neck underneath to keep me toasty! I finished the look with an oversized black bag from Marc B and my new favourite Chelsea boots from Jigsaw! These boots looks fab with a bit of ankle sock visible over the top... I'm going to live in these this winter!

I also wore my hair differently. As I'm trying to grow my fringe out I thought I'd take my new to be CP, (that's center parting), out for a test drive and gripped it back either side in some sort of Seventies inspired style. I'm not sure what I think yet, it's certainly different as I've had a fringe since the age of 14! Thumbs up or thumbs down?

LFW | DAY 2 OUTFIT

As I was working on Friday I didn't actually get into the LFW spirit until yesterday, day 2, when I headed central for the Orla Kiely presentation and the Design by Shanghai showcase, (more about these later). Sadly this also meant that I missed the Ones to Watch show, which I'm sure was fabulous, I particularly wanted to catch Keiko Nishiyama and Min Wu.

I actually woke up late on Saturday morning and, not wanting to miss the early Orla presentation, didn't have much time to prepare an outfit and get myself out of the door! For easiness I therefore settled for a cosy Boden roll neck worn under a pair of 1990s dungarees from Beyond Retro*. I finished the look with navy ankle socks and leopard print pumps, also from Boden and still available in their AW14 range; I don't usually like leopard print but I can't get enough of these!

Oh yes, my hair! You may have already seen on my instagram last week that I'd had my hair done, it was a birthday present from my Mum:) As I've been growing it for a couple of years now I just felt really bored so wanted to try something new but keep the length.... I decided that ombré would be a nice change and I really like the results! I also had my fringe softened a little so I can try, yet again, to grow it out. The dye was done by a super talented hair stylist called Lauren, who works in a salon called March Hair in Yelverton - I'd highly recommend going there if any of you are fellow South Westerners!

H&M SHAPING JEANS

These photos were taken last weekend shortly after my exciting visit to H+M's London showroom, where I had a look at their new shaping jeans range. So sorry I've only just gotten around to posting them but I've been feeling super ill since Wednesday so've mainly been spending my evenings watching films or reading... I'm determined to feel better by Monday so am having a really chilled weekend too! I'm useless when I'm poorly, I just end up feeling really sad and sensitive :( But enough about me - more about the jeans. I've literally been living in them for the past two weeks. Not only are they a great colour but the fit is great too and the stretchy denim means they're super comfy and allow for lots of movement. As a stylist my days entail a lot of bending, kneeling, crouching etc, so these jeans are great for me!

Last night I caught up with GIRLS. Although I'm still finding this season rather slow and dissatisfying, I am intrigued to find out where the whole Adam/Mimi Rose thing is going... I just love the show so much and find it so relatable - I wish the episodes were longer! Does anyone know of anything similar I could watch?

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I've been super busy with work and traveling so have been a bit too tired to blog recently, I'm sorry, but better late than never, right!? Happy New Year! Somehow I managed an entire evening without taking photos on New Year's, which I spent with Matt and some friends in South London, so I thought I'd post the rest of the photos from Devon instead.

I miss the beautiful countryside, the evening light on a frosty clear day is truly something to behold. But on the other hand I'm still happy to be home - back in my cold, dark North London flat where my pet rats keep me up through the night rustling around in their shredded Stylist magazine nests and play fighting. I'm also happy to be back at work, the early mornings are a bit of a shock to the system but it feels good to have a purpose in life again besides eating cheese.

Oh yes, I did promise to tell you more about my new job! I'm very excited to be the new Stylist at Jack Wills, where I get to work alongside an amazing team of creatives and the super talented Senior Stylist whose Instagram account you can check out here. Despite my wonderful start to 2015 I do of course still have a few New Year's resolutions including reading more, writing more, watching more films and just generally kicking ass at my new job. Again, happy new year!
