Below you will find my treat to myself on this lovely Friday.
What will you buy?
I have a few denim shirts in my wardrobe now, but when I spotted this one from Ann Taylor,
I knew I had to have it. I love the no pocket front, the fact that it doesn't button all the way up to the neck, the light lavender blue color, and the ultra feminine stripes of lace going down the arms.
The black pleated crepe pants will be a replacement to the cotton pleated cropped pants that I already have in my wardrobe. I'm sorry to say, but they are now too small. But I am happy to say that I am okay with that. I'm over being a size 2. I think......
As long as I am healthy and physically fit, I am not going to lose sleep or go crazy trying to chase my youth at the gym. Staying active with a daily yoga practice, walking or biking when I can, and a little strength training here and there with my three pound weights is all I need. I actually like getting older. It's making me more patient and sensible as well as more careful with my purchases:)

Some people will tell you that nail art is out. Some people will tell you that nail art is in. I will tell you to do what you feel like doing. That's what I do. But I haven't always been that way.....
I have always danced to the beat of my own drum to a certain extent. That doesn't mean I haven't gone through many stages of trying to be like everyone else though. In school I would always observe everyones style and if I found someone who I thought had fabulous style, I would try to copy them, but in my own subtle way so that no one would necessarily know I was copying them. My family thought it was a bit weird though. They saw me change my style overnight and I know they sometimes thought I was a little crazy. There was also a time that I said I was going to only read Vogue and that was going to be my fashion bible. Then I decided that Harpers Bazaar was going to be my fashion bible. But way before those it was Seventeen, Sassy, Jane, Lucky, Glamour, Cosmo and In Style. And even way before that, I was gazing into my Barbie magazine. We are influenced by so many more medias nowadays, I don't even know where to start! Now, I love looking at my fellow fashion bloggers to see how they style themselves. I am thankful to be alive during this time where really anything goes in fashion. There are literally no rules. Although there will always be trends that the fashion industry thinks up, now I just use everything as inspiration and I continue to dance to the beat of my own drum when it comes to fashion.
As I write this, Fall 2015 Fashion Week is taking place in NYC. I think it would be super exciting to be around that crowd and I would love to join in the fun one of these years!
As you know, it is FREEZING here in the Northeast and sometimes it is a bit challenging to be fashionable during the cold winter months. So packing for fashion week could tend to be a little difficult. Of course you want to look amazing, but you also want to be warm. It is 20 degrees in the city right now. Kind of a heat wave compared to the temperatures we have been having. But still, brr.
Here are some of my necessities that I would pack for fashion week if I were lucky enough to be attending. I don't think anyone would even recognize that I was from Maine. Well, maybe the Sorel boots would give it away...
I am not sure what made me tie this scarf in my hair today, but it worked! So I left it.
I watched Saturday Night Live last night. You know, the one with John Travolta at the disco? The style for ladies back then was so pretty. They seemed to wear scarves a lot more.
I first noticed Lindsey Wixon modeling in my Style.Com magazine about a year ago. I couldn't help but notice the gap between her front teeth. Normally, people try to "fix" that, but she didn't. I couldn't take my eyes off her. I studied her look. She seemed a bit edgy but that might have been a result of the particular photo shoot. After doing a little research, I found that Lindsey can be anything. She can be soft and sexy, cute and cuddly as well as edgy and wild. But who is she really? After watching this short video I learned that she is a small town girl who was made fun of and had no friends when she was growing up. I think we all can relate to that scene. Pretty crazy since now she is one of the most amazing supermodels the world has ever known.
Oscar de la Renta taught us the true meaning of elegance. I am not entirely sure how a man knew how to dress a woman better than a woman, but Oscar de la Renta did. He made us look and feel as beautiful as we actually are and he did it better than any female designer I've ever known! I think that women sometimes tend to overthink things. I know that most women wear so many hats in their lives (not to be taken literally, or actually, that could be taken literally), that most of the time she doesn't even know who she actually is! I think we tend to loose our feminine side due to the business of every day life. But Oscar de la Renta reminds us of that.
We must continue to remember just how beautiful we really are.
Thank you Oscar de la Renta.
YOU will be remembered.
