LFW | A ROUNDUP

Sorry I'm a bit late with this... Much to my surprise I wasn't actually blown away by what I saw over London Fashion Week this season, but there were a few stand out collections that I really wanted to share on here! I love the relaxed, boyish silhouettes of Markus Lupfer and McQ and I thought some of the David Koma pieces were super sexy in a cool Seventies way, (with a bit of a sic-fi twist)! You can check out all of the other looks I liked on Pinterest here :)

Weekend Inspiration ~ Ralph Lauren Spring/Summer 2015 Fashion Show

It's no secret that I am in love with Ralph Lauren.

That is, the clothing line. Not the actual man.

I think what I love most about his designs is the perfect mix of masculine and feminine. The classic styles paired with ultra flowing fabrics. This time he mixes neutrals with brights and I am in love! Watch the Ralph Lauren 2015 Spring/Summer fashion show below and let me know your thoughts!

"What will you buy?" FRIDAY!

I just knew I had to have it. This denim peplum top from GAP would work with just about everything in my wardrobe. It creates the perfect balance of causal & dressy and I just love how opposites attract! Below are a few ways I plan on wearing it but the sky's the limit!
What will you buy this Friday?

Stripes, pearls, ribbon and lace. Oh my....

To some, these textures and designs may seem like too much or too many to wear all at once.
But I happen to love mixing patterns and textures.

However, I can see how someone might be afraid to mix it up. You don't want to appear to be a crazy person or anything. That is why when I mix it up, I tend to stay with the same color scheme. I have been known to wear flowers with stripes or big flowers and little flowers together, but I always make sure the colors work together. This might take some experimenting. There is nothing wrong with that! It seems like that's all I ever do........experiment.

I know it's hard to tell in the photos, but I am also wearing shimmery black tights.
Yet another medium to add to the mix.

IS IT SPRING YET?

With Spring only 23 days away, (I looked it up), I've found myself thinking about what I'll be wearing in the warmer months to come. More than anything I'm looking forward to bare-leg days in high waisted shorts and tucked in tees... but I'm also a fan of simple loose dresses thrown on with socks and sandals in summertime. Thoughts of late night BBQs in a dress and snuggly roll neck and barefoot picnics in the park are already dancing before my eyes! But hey, summer seems years away so let's get back to reality.

The other week I treated myself to this adorable pair of Office t-bar shoes thinking they'd look good in Spring/Summer with ankle socks... I can't wait to wear them with my dungarees! I was also recently given this dress by Lavish Alice*; I love the scalloped edge detail and it's a beautiful blue... I'm sure it'll be getting lots of wear when the weather FINALLY peaks!

It starts with a suit................

I was so thrilled to find out that TALBOTS is now partnering with Dress For Success, a non profit organization that helps disadvantaged women get back into the workforce with confidence and style.
It may seem superficial to some, but how we look really does affect our spirit in this world. I am true believer in that. I feel good when I look nice. All it takes is a little make-up, a great hairstyle and an awesome outfit to give us the certainty that we are strong enough to make it through our day with poise and grace.
There are women who are just as smart as the rest of us, but they do not have the money to get themselves up and running. We don't know what life has thrown at them, but we all know that life can be extremely rough sometimes. Frequently I wonder why I have been so lucky in my own life.
All it takes is just a little help from someone like you or I to help a lady who wants to work but does not feel confident to do it on her own due to the fact that she cannot afford make-up, a good hair cut or professional clothing. She cannot afford internet to job hunt or to fill out applications.
All TALBOTS stores will  be taking monetary donations now through March 22, 2015 and will begin taking nearly new wear-to-work clothing donations March 5-8.
Watch the Dress For Success video below to learn more:
And on March 7, 2015 all TALBOTS stores will be hosting a spring shopping party!

Ladylike Oxfords

Who says that men get to have comfortable feet and not women? Why don't men wear heels?
These are some of the questions that go around in my head when trying to find a pair of chic yet comfortable shoes.

The answer to those two questions are, no one actually says that only men get to have comfortable feet and some men actually do wear heels. Ewww.

So anyway, oxfords are very chic and so comfortable and not just for the boys. And on a lady, they can look very ladylike. Women are so lucky that we can wear just about anything and make it look fantastic!

I will even wear these oxfords with a skirt in the future. I'll be sure to post my look when I do.

Model Monday

Meet:

TRISH GOFF

It has been said that Trish Goff has the face of a porcelain doll.
I think we would all have to agree on that.

I first discovered Trish back in the early 90's when I was working at a trendy clothing retailer in my local mall called Canadians. Not many people remember that store. In fact I couldn't find any information on the internet either, so if you find something, please inform me! I absolutely loved that store. It was kind of like a Forever 21, only better quality. But remember, this was back in the early 90's. I believe that Canadians was happening before their time and they ended up filing chapter 11. But anyway, Trish Goff was all over our marketing for that store. I believe that we were carrying Calvin Klein at the time and she was modeling for the brand. I just thought she looked so different than any of the other models I was seeing at that time. There she was with her dark brown hair and big brown eyes and the other models seemed to be blonde and Barbie-like. (No offense Barbie;) Trish is a natural beauty from northern Florida. She dropped out of school at age fifteen after being discovered by a modeling scout. I love the part in the video at the very end where she says that after she is done with modeling, she wants to just study everything. And guess what? She did and she received her real estate license from New York University and now works as a broker for Douglas Elliman. Trish is now 38 and has probably had more life experiences than someone who was a straight A student graduating from Yale. Life is our true teacher and I am sure that Trish would agree with me on that.

Watch the video below and get to know Trish Goff:

NYFW | A ROUNDUP

Yesterday saw the start of London Fashion Week AW15-16. I've been super busy with work so if I'm honest I haven't had the energy to get too involved this year, but even so, with social media at my fingertips it's pretty hard to ignore! I will actually be heading into central for a few shows tomorrow though so please come and say hi if you see me!

I've been pinning all of my favourite AW15 looks so far here and will be continuing to do so for the next few weeks, but for now here's also a quick rundown of my favourite collections from New York! Which have been your favourite shows so far?

Weekend Inspiration ~ Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer London Fashion Show

The Spring/Summer 2015 collection from Burberry has tricked me. When I think of Burberry, I can't help think of the classic trench coat and the infamous Burberry plaid.

English designer Christopher Bailey takes Burberry to a whole new level. He designs for Burberry Prorsum. In case you're wondering Prorsum is a Latin word meaning 'forwards'. So it's not the classic Burberry Brit you might be used to.

I would have to guess that Mr. Bailey is a fan of the ballet since most of these looks he has designed for Burberry Prorsum involve tulle, bows, sparkle and fluff.

I personally admire each and every one of these looks since lately it seems that designers have been staying away from all that fancy stuff and keeping it clean. In my book, too clean. I love all that girly stuff. The other feature that I noticed was the footwear. It's like she's been dancing all day and decided to put on her comfy shoes for the commute home. I can totally relate to that.

As you watch the show, notice and enjoy the beautiful vocals and acoustics by artist James Bay and get lost in the world of Burberry Prorsum.

"What will you buy?" FRIDAY

Time to treat yourself ladies!
Below you will find my treat to myself on this lovely Friday.

 What will you buy?

I have a few denim shirts in my wardrobe now, but when I spotted this one from Ann Taylor
I knew I had to have it. I love the no pocket front, the fact that it doesn't button all the way up to the neck, the light lavender blue color, and the ultra feminine stripes of lace going down the arms.

The black pleated crepe pants will be a replacement to the cotton pleated cropped pants that I already have in my wardrobe. I'm sorry to say, but they are now too small. But I am happy to say that I am okay with that. I'm over being a size 2. I think......

As long as I am healthy and physically fit, I am not going to lose sleep or go crazy trying to chase my youth at the gym. Staying active with a daily yoga practice, walking or biking when I can, and a little strength training here and there with my three pound weights is all I need. I actually like getting older. It's making me more patient and sensible as well as more careful with my purchases:)

Check out more of my favorite items now sale at Ann Taylor for an extra 50% off already reduced prices!

LFW LIVE WITH RIGHTSTER

How my houndstooth nail art inspired my look......

Some people will tell you that nail art is out. Some people will tell you that nail art is in. I will tell you to do what you feel like doing. That's what I do. But I haven't always been that way.....

I have always danced to the beat of my own drum to a certain extent. That doesn't mean I haven't gone through many stages of trying to be like everyone else though. In school I would always observe everyones style and if I found someone who I thought had fabulous style, I would try to copy them, but in my own subtle way so that no one would necessarily know I was copying them. My family thought it was a bit weird though. They saw me change my style overnight and I know they sometimes thought I was a little crazy. There was also a time that I said I was going to only read Vogue and that was going to be my fashion bible. Then I decided that Harpers Bazaar was going to be my fashion bible. But way before those it was Seventeen, Sassy, Jane, Lucky, Glamour, Cosmo and In Style. And even way before that, I was gazing into my Barbie magazine. We are influenced by so many more medias nowadays, I don't even know where to start! Now, I love looking at my fellow fashion bloggers to see how they style themselves. I am thankful to be alive during this time where really anything goes in fashion. There are literally no rules. Although there will always be trends that the fashion industry thinks up, now I just use everything as inspiration and I continue to dance to the beat of my own drum when it comes to fashion.
You?
