Hey guys! So on Saturday I went to Miss Uganda for the first time.  It was my second pageant show and I must say I do enjoy all the glitz and glamour of it.  So of course you know I love Virgos Lounge and this event called for a VL type dress!  I fell in love with this skirt the moment I saw it.  I don't have anything like it in my wardrobe, and it is quite a mature look, but the crop top gave it a fresh young feel.

So I know you all get bored of my face lol ( Well I hope not!) but thought it would be nice to see another face on the blog.  My gorgeous little sis also wore the most beautiful VL dress, the detailing is absolutely stunning.

Clothing Swap To Benefit Nourish Salon!

My great friend and personal hair stylist Charlene Boggins opened her own salon in my hometown Veazie, Maine about two years ago. She is not only a certified Vidal Sassoon hair stylist, but she also specializes in treating women going through medical hair loss due to chemotherapy or other medical conditions. She helps women through the whole process of hair loss which can be very traumatic for most. Charlene also supplies beautiful scarves and gorgeous wigs which she trims and styles to each clients specification.

Charlene wants to also be able to help women who may not be able to afford a wig or her services. That is why she has introduced
The Nourish Salon & Spa Angel Fund.

Charlene and I came up with the idea to hold a Clothing Swap twice a year to benefit her Angel Fund. We are very excited about this event and we plan on making it a huge success!
Below, you will find your official invite.

You are invited to a Clothing Swap!

And below you will find the letter that we sent out to clarify some of the details of the Clothing Swap:

Hello ladies!
We just wanted to send you all a little note to explain some of the small details about the clothing swap that is taking place on Tuesday October 14, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Machias Savings Bank in Brewer. The admission is $15 and all of the proceeds go to The Nourish Salon and Spa Angel Fund which helps to provide services and luxury wigs for cancer patients as well as patients experiencing medical hair loss.
You will want to arrive promptly at 6:00 pm the evening of the event. Bring a reasonable amount of clothing and/or accessories that are in fabulous condition that you no longer want in your wardrobe. All size ranges are welcome! We have decided to NOT put a limit on how many items you can bring to the swap. Just make sure it’s not a truckload or anything. One or two big garbage bags or boxes is plenty. Please make sure you arrive promptly at 6:00 pm with your items so that we have time to set everything out before we officially begin the swap at 7:00 pm. We will not be putting a limit on how many items you can take home. Anything that is left at the end of the evening will be donated to a local charity unless you would like to take it back home with you.
We hope this clarifies everything! Please let us know if you have any more questions. This will be so much fun and it will be so great to meet and mingle with each other!
See you on October 14th!
Fashionably Yours,
Laura Michaud & Charlene Boggins

Luxemme - Ruched two piece

Ruched two piece - Luxemme
Heels - Missguided (similar)

Where did summer go?! As were slowly transitioning into fall it's the perfect time to wear pieces that would have been to fussy and sticky to wear during the warmer days.  This midi skirt and crop top set tick all the boxes.  With it's super soft fabric, this skirt hugs you in all the right places, mind you it might not be too forgiving after a hearty meal!

I straightened my hair recently and have noticed a bit of a growth sprout.  I'm about two years natural now and I'm really thinking about doing a mini chop and saying goodbye to my dry coloured ends. There is a saying that says 'health over length', but boy do I love my length! watch this space.

Missguided - Dress £8.99 on sale!
Heels - Zara
Earrings - H&M

Hey guys, sorry for another absence on the blog, I think I can say I'm back to blogging more regularly from now.  I managed to get my to do list and stress levels down!  My sister gave birth to beautiful twin boys and I was blessed enough to be in the delivery room, seeing two little lives being brought into the world really puts things in perspective. I'm so excited to see how much they change as they grow in to their own personalities, I seriously feel like their mine lol

I wore this lovely dress over the weekend, I originally bought it as a work dress, but when I put it on it felt way to sexy for work.  I love the gathered details, I was going to wear it with a belt but I think the details make the dress so why cover them.

Leather Skirt

Skirt - £19.99 Missguided
Top - $13 Persunmall
Bag - £6 H&M sale
Jewellery - Diamond Petal
Heels - £12 Primark

I'm halfway through my week off, its been amazing.  I haven't done anything special at all and I think that's the beauty of it.  We lead such busy life's that we sometimes forget to have some down time.

I'm in love with this leather skirt, I think the design is a bit different to your regular leather skirt.  I wanted to keep this outfit monochrome, but you know me, I couldn't help but through in a bit of colour and print with the clutch.

OUTFIT | WHEN FRIENDS CAME TO STAY

Over the weekend two very special friends from Devon visited. As they arrived late on Friday evening we stayed in and ate Mexican food whilst drinking mojitos and playing a ridiculous(ly funny) game called Cards Against Humanity, then on Saturday we went to some exhibitions in Chelsea. Theres a fab website called This at There, which tells you what's on in London - there are so many amazing free exhibitions, so it's worth checking "TAT" regularly to find out what's happening where!

First we went to the Tower of London to see the beautiful poppy installation; thousands of ceramic poppies have flooded the tower's grounds in memory of those who died during the First World War. Eventually, by the 11th November, an amazing 888,246 poppies will have been placed. It was a stunning sight, there are just so many, but it also eerily looks like blood seeping out of the tower.... you can find out more, and even buy one of the poppies, here

We then headed West to the Saatchi gallery where we saw an interesting installation called New Art from Africa and Latin America, and also went to the Private Apartment of Mademoiselle Chanel exhibition on the second floor. It was very interesting of course, she was a fascinating woman with a fascinating life, but I couldn't help feeling a little down afterwards. The gallery space and photography itself was very dark and gloomy.... very much like the end of her life apparently.

On a brighter note, we then popped to Chelsea's Proud gallery, where they're currently exhibiting old images of Jane and Serge. I find their love affair so inspiring and these images, which were taken by Jane's brother Andrew, are so full of life and character, it's definitely worth going to if you can make it before it finishes on the 26th October. I wore my favourite tartan dress by Mod Dolly with a grey jersey funnel neck underneath, and a check jacket from Zara. As anticipated, I've been wearing my Jigsaw pixie boots* nearly everyday! They're a great alternative to my DMs and I wear them when I fancy looking a little more sophisticated!

TARTAN JACKET FROM ZARA

Red Dress

Dress - £20 Topshop
Bag - H&M
Heels - Zara

Hey guys! I hope your all having a good day.  I'm certainly in a great mood as I'm off work for one week!!  I don't have anything planned at all, but it's nice just to be able to chill sometimes.

I successfully tried bantu knots again, If you remember I tried them in this post here, it didn't work then.  This time round I tried it on dry hair as opposed to wet and voila!  What do you guys think? My hair is naturally curly already after growing it out of relaxer a few years back, but I'm still getting use to my own curls and I also like to play around with different types of curls.

I threw on this flirty red dress today, as the weather was ok.  Its a new dress, so I thought if I don't wear it now I would have to wait until next summer.  I love it, it's so girly, for £20 it's probably the cheapest dress I will ever find in Topshop lol

LFW SS15 | FASHION SCOUT

FINALLY getting these photographs of the Fashion Scout showcase up; this weekend I had friends visiting so spent my time catching up, playing silly games and going to exhibitions, which was super fun!

On Tuesday I decided to check out what was happening at Freemason's Hall and went to the George Styler show too, whose work I also saw on the catwalk last season. I'm going to be honest, his style is not my cup of tea; I didn't really like the Egyptian theme that was going on and the collection seemed very confused. I did like one of his cardigans though, (the one with the hot hair balloon on shown below), and there was also a sporty aspect to some of his outfits, which was cool.

After the show I went to a showcase down the hall, which featured loads of upcoming design talent. I instantly fell in love with a brand called Museum of Friendship, who i'll be telling you more about soon, their brand values are really lovely and their designs are kitsch but in a sophisticated way somehow. I love the stars and illustrated hands below.

I also got to see the work of Keiko Nishiyama up close, which was fabulous - her prints are so intricate and beautiful, literally like pieces of art! I'd actually already seen her graduate collection, for which she'd looked to botanical drawings for inspiration, this year her aquarium designs were just as breathtaking. The wonderful Min Wu was also there with her stunning new sport luxe collection - it was great to see everything up close and personal, and I got to chat with the designers too, which was super interesting and inspiring.

Miami and Bahamas

It's so bittersweet looking at holiday pictures,  all I see is blue skies and all I want is to go back!  Its been over a month since I got back from Miami, it was probably one of my best holidays, although it took a good two weeks to recover as it was a super active holiday!

It was so easy getting around Miami, we stayed in The Monte Carlo hotel on Miami Beach, we had an amazing view of the beach from the balcony, I remember being woken everyday by the sound of the sea and kids playing on the beach, what a change from being woken up by your annoying alarm clock!

During the day we would wonder around looking for somewhere new to eat, Miami has such a big South American community, were as in London for me its very rare to met someone from South America.  So we made it our mission to taste all the different cuisines that Miami had to offer.

We would take bus to South Beach, we went to Nikki Beach and wet willies (they have the best alcoholic slush puppies) and a few other places friends had recommend as 'must see places to visit'.  I'm not really much of a raver but the night life in Miami is insane, we went clubbing five times in the 9 days we were there! crazy!! The clubs there are so much bigger than in the UK and the whole experience is different.

We managed to go to the Bahamas for one day, with just a 4 hour journey to get there I would recommend it to anyone visiting Miami.  Although I wish I had spent more than a day there.  I went snorkeling for the first time and screamed my head off on the jet skis, we ended our trip with some amazing Caribbean food.
